1. One UI vs Oxygen OS
Samsung’s One UI 2.1 which is based on Android 10 is a very sleek and revamped version of One UI. It is very much smooth and fast but there are some Samsung features which makes it extremely customisable. Which when compared to Oneplus’s Oxygen OS which provides customisation but one UI is just miles ahead. For instance, you get to choose the edge lighting options, edge panel, Samsung’s Goodluck has another level of customisation options. On the other hand, Oxygen OS is very much like a vanilla android but with few basic customisation and tweaks. Both the OS gets updates pretty fast and timely.
2.The Camera Faceoff
So these are the two best camera phones in the Android market as of now. The Samsung Galaxy S20+ and the Oneplus 8 pro both of them have a quad-camera system at the back. The S20+ has a 12 MP main camera a 64 MP telephoto lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide lens and at the end a 0.3 MP 3D time of flight sensor. On the other side, Oneplus 8 pro has 48 MP main camera 8 MP telephoto lens, a 48 MP ultrawide camera and a 5 MP colour filter camera. So, to start with the S20+ has a wider field of view of 123° field of view in its ultrawide camera as compared to Oneplus 8 pro’s 120° ultrawide lens. Besides that, S20+ can shoot videos up to 8K at 24 fps whereas Oneplus 8 Pro can shoot videos only up to 4k at 60 fps. The front camera of S20+ can also shoot 4k at 60 fps and the Oneplus 8 pro is again capped at 1080p not only that Oneplus is also using last year’s sensor for its front camera. Overall S20+ clicks consistently good photos and have better hardware capabilities and is reliable for point and shoot. Oneplus 8 pro needs certain k=conditions to click a good picture and it remains inconsistent a lot of times and the 5 MP colour filter is controversial on its own.
3. Build Quality and Durability
The Build Quality of S20+ is way better than Oneplus 8 pro from every aspect. For starter’s, we get the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 at the front and at the back of the S20+ whereas on Oneplus 8 pro its morning Gorilla Glass 5. The overall in-hand feel of Oneplus 8 Pro is bulky as it weighs around 200g and feels delicate to hold, on the other hand, the S20+ weighs around 186g which is lighter and the device is also compact despite having 6.7 inches of screen in both. the in-hand feel of S20+ is ver much solid and feels like it is well built and easy to hold. The display of S20+ is very much less curved which makes the sweet spot of the curve of the screen as it doesn’t get the accidental touches and looks very beautiful to use, whereas the 8 pro still gets a lot of accidental touches and has sharp curves at the edge of the screen.
4.Eco System
Samsung has now a complete eco-system to be in and use it. It gives the complete seamless connectivity option across the Samsung devices which in my opinion is implemented very well. For instance, if you have a Samsung tablet and a Galaxy s series phone you can enjoy the phone and text continuity feature and use your tab for communications while your phone rests on a wireless charger. Not only that, but you can also have a similar experience while using galaxy buds+ or the galaxy watch it gives seamless connectivity across the devices. OnePlus is yet to create such eco-system as of now. Being in an eco-system has its perks and gives a very good overall experience of using your devices.
5. Samsung Pay
Samsung Pay is still unbeatable in the global market when it comes to mobile payment options. Undoubtedly it is better than Apple Pay or Google Pay. OnePlus supports Google Pay which is yet to be rolled out to many countries like India where neither Apple Pay works nor Google Pay. However, Samsung Pay works brilliantly in India as well. the main reason behind this is that Samsung Pay uses MST technology which allows users to pay using their phone even at the NFC or non- NFC payment terminals which covers almost all of the type of payment machines.
Final Verdict
Undoubtedly Samsung Galaxy S20+ outperforms the Oneplus 8 pro in a lot of things but that doesn’t mean that Oneplus 8 pro is a bad phone by any means. Its just S20+ is leading the pack ahead and is giving more than what Oneplus is giving. So this sums up the 5 reasons to choose Galaxy S20+ over Oneplus 8 Pro.
